As fellow pet parents, we know how important your pet’s safety and happiness are. That’s why why we end every visit with a thoughtful update with photos of your fur baby, sent straight to you for peace of mind.

Individually, we each our own experience, communication, and love for animals to your home. Collectively, we support one another to handle different routines, schedules, and the curveballs that life can throw. You could say we’re like substitute pet parents, because we treat every pet like our own.

About Ricardo & Lola

Founders of Playa De Perros

Ricardo grew up in Long beach, NY and always had a strong love for all animals, shaped by his childhood growing up with his hamsters, rescuing injured squirrels and birds, and his first dog Tigi. After college he took on a lasting interest in nutrition and gardening, which hes kept as a hobby to this day. He cooked meals for his first dog Tigi, who often joined him in the garden before passing away at a after a long life of 20 years.

In 2020, Ricardo adopted Lola, a 2yr old mini poodle mix. She was very reactive towards people and other dogs. Determined to give Lola a full, enriching life, Ricardo restructured his life to socialize, play, and exercise her with daily walks. His journey as a pet sitter began on Rover, when he boarded other dogs and learned more about pet care and different animal personalities. Over time, Lola began to open up and reveal her sweet nature and through their bond, Ricardo decided to be a full time pet sitter.

After nearly a decade at a local health food store, Ricardo decided to reignite his passion for pet care.

Ricardo’s mission is simple: to ensure dogs are happily walking, sniffing, and wagging their tails, with plenty of play and affection. He is committed to continuously learning about dog enrichment, applying this knowledge to make pets in his care feel truly loved. Ricardo understands that as pet parents, we’ll go the extra mile for our pets—and that it often takes a pack to properly care for them.

Playa de Perros embodies Ricardo’s belief in the power of the pack to nurture and support our pets. Its purpose is to step in when needed, giving dogs more time to explore, play, and thrive. We are a small, dedicated team of local pet sitters ready to help when life gets busy. Through Playa de Perros, Ricardo warmly invites all pet parents to join our pack!
